10

This poster was created for the 15th All-Japan Intergenerational Gateball Tournament, held in Okayama Prefecture from August 8 to 9, 1998 (Heisei 10). Gateball, a team sport invented in Japan, is similar to croquet and is often played by seniors. However, it is also promoted as a family and community game. The artist, Toru Kaichi, is a professional illustrator, character designer, and artist. His works often evoke nostalgia while still being contemporary and humorous. Through his fun and playful illustrations, Kaichi helps make government-sponsored events more inviting to the public.
